On Thursday, November 9 and Friday, November 10, the Centre will held in Reggio Emilia an international Conference titled “Metaphor: links between knowledge and innovation”. The Conference will involve C. Cacciari, A. Contini, E. Franzini, G. Frezza, A. Gatti, S. Gensini, A. Martinengo, R. Messori, M. Prandi, G. Steen. The presence of the aforementioned scholars and academics, internationally renowned, will allow a dialogue between different disciplines and theoretical approaches (from Aesthetics to Philosophy of language, passing by Philosophy of science, Linguistics, Semiotics and Cognitive psychology), aimed at exploring the existing relationship between metaphor’s innovative aspect and metaphor’s cognitive frame. During the Conference, the monographic issue on “Metaphor and knowledge” of the Academic Journal “Estetica. Studi e ricerche” (edited by Annamaria Contini) will be presented: Elio Franzini, Carlo Gentili and Gerard Steen will take part in the presentation. The conference will be organized and hosted by the Research Centre "Metaphor and Narrative in Science" (Department of Education and Human Sciences of the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia) under the personal scientific responsibility of Annamaria Contini, in cooperation with SIE – Societą Italiana di Estetica and LIE – Laboratorio Interateneo di Estetica (University Centres of Ferrara, Modena-Reggio Emilia, Parma). The first Conference session will begin on Thursday, November 9 at 2.30 p.m.; the last session will then conclude on Friday, November 10 at 1.00 pm. The conference sessions will be held at the Palazzo Universitario “Giuseppe Dossetti”, Reggio Emilia - Viale Allegri 9.
